The Brand

Justina McCaffrey Inc was formed in Canada, and has remained one of the most sought after brands in the international bridal industry.

In 1996 Justina McCaffrey launched the first collection to the International New York Bridal Market, and received more orders than any other newcomer wedding dress designer had ever done. During this same year a retail boutique was opened in Ottawa on the prestigious Sussex Drive (directly across the street from the US Embassy), a few years later another boutique was opened in Toronto’s Yorkville’s region, and a few years after that another “store within a store” location was opened in Costa Mesa’s 8000 square foot Mon Amie Bridal.

What makes Justina McCaffrey Inc’s success extraordinary is that the home Canadian market remains negligible in comparison to the over 90% of sales that is derived from bridal specialty stores across the USA. Almost every retailer that sold the collection stated that Justina McCaffrey was in the top three of all collections being sold in the luxury price point.

The brand’s easing sensibility is specific and unique and the silhouettes speak to both the girl and the sophisticated woman in each of the dresses. In addition to the boutiques, Justina McCaffrey Inc. has continually produced memorable runway fascinations with a high art symphonic blend of movement, silk and opera. She also directs short classical music films that support her vision of beauty and grace. The interpretation of Beethoven’s Ninth is described as a magical bit of cinematography presenting each bride with her own Prince Charming (all ballet dancers from the National Ballet of Canada) with a touch of Alice Through The Looking Glass and the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Kleinfeld president, Mara Ushel describes Justina dresses as a “trendsetting” and states that “Many of Justina’s styles have been bestsellers, and one specifically has been number one in our company since the beginning of Kleinfeld Bridal. That’s quite an accomplishment since we have over a thousand samples.”

Wedding Bells Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Alison McGill declares Justina McCaffrey Inc.“ at the forefront of bridal design. She is out there making the trends and her dresses are stunning.”

The designs focus on the essential desired silhouette of the body, the fabric, fit, and feel of the dress. They are also stunningly original. The Florence, and Alexia II are excellent examples. These dresses began the 15 plus year trend of the “pick-up” skirt. (The “pick-up skirt is made with two skirts. A larger skirt and top layer is “picked-up” and attached to a smaller layer underneath.) When they were launched, it was a revolutionary moment for the bridal industry. Since then, a whole new market segment for this kind of dress emerged. The original design has been widely imitated but never equaled: and in the meantime Justina McCaffrey Inc. has grown in into a full product line that includes wedding dress accessories, a bridesmaid, and mother of the bride collection, as well as a mid market wedding dress collection and a lingerie collection that sold throughout wedding dress retail boutiques and department stores.

The latest development of Justina McCaffrey Inc., is the focus on the individual bride through direct video communication with Justina herself, customization of made to measure wedding dresses and the appreciation of all sizes of brides.
